Staying connected is good for business - especially when you give your customers the opportunity to connect to reliable and secure Internet access. From the hospitality and healthcare industries to telecom and education, high-speed Internet access (HSIA) is just a click away with Nomadix’s diverse array of solutions.

Overview:

Airports and Bus/Trains Stations

Recreational travelers often access the Intenet to check on travel plans and book ahead for accommodation whereas the typical business traveler catch up on their work while in transit. Service providers at airports and other major transport venues need to provide secure and easy to use public internet access to thousands of travelers and their multiple devices. Service providers at these locations also have to provide a service which can cope with the large changes in usage which occur when major events ( sporting, recreational or even environmental ) disrupt normal travel patterns. Flexibility and ease of use are key requirements for travelers at these venues.

Airplanes and Commuter Trains

Internet Access availability attracts more business-class travelers as well as tourists with WIFI enabled devices that have a long commute to endure. Offering this service in this growing market segment to your customers is a way to increase revenue and can be a key differentiator in a highly competitive market.

Campgrounds and Marinas

Customers now expect to be able to access the Internet from their personal devices while relaxing on holiday at these venues. Venue owners need to provide this service to retain and attract these holiday makers and make their stay as pleasurable as possible. Campers especially those with kids like to have the option to check their email, browse the web, and instant message from their devices while sitting at the campfire whereas boaters can download a chart from their laptop, or check a weather forecast and make dinner reservations at their destination port for example.

Truck Stops and Gas Stations

Travelers will stop to access the internet while stopping at these locations to fill up for fuel and food. Travelers will check for onward hotel reservations or road and weather conditions as well as catching up on the latest updates to their social network. These venues are ideal HotSpots and can be positioned as opportunities for 3G offload or EDGE performance offload. High Speed Connectivity is a profitable value added amenity that can enhance the customer user experience. The Nomadix Service Engine™ (NSE) is specifically designed for broad based WiFi HotSpot rollouts allowing providers to quickly and cost effectively deploy profitable WiFi services.

Nomadix Solution:

Nomadix offer a range of access gateways which are capable of servicing any type of HotSpot – from large, multi-cell location such as a large international airport to a small Gas station.

The Nomadix Service Engine™ (NSE) is specifically designed for broad based WiFi HotSpot rollouts allowing providers to quickly and cost effectively deploy reliable and profitable WiFi Services. The NSE embedded software also has features which ensure quick and easy connectivity to travelers in a secure manner.

  • AG 5800 - The AG 5800 is enabled for high performance solution and scalability. The AG 5800 expands the ability to offer new NSE features with increased high-speed computational intensity. The AG 5800 is designed for deployment from mid to large venues with easy device user count scalability.
  • NITO - The Nomadix Internet Traffic Optimizer (NITO) is a powerful high speed and cost-effective appliance designed to give you more from your existing bandwidth. By enabling IT managers to access and review traffic patterns and content usage, the NITO offers visibility and insight for intelligent bandwidth management and allocation. Plus, NITO's web content filtering and network security protect your network and users.

Nomadix Advantage:

The NSE provides a range of features needed for the successful deployment of wired and WiFi public access service. The following key areas are addressed by the NSE deployed on a Nomadix access gateway:

Customer Acquisition - Nomadix’ patented Dynamic Address Translation™ (DAT) technology provides transparent broadband network connectivity as users travel between different locations—without requiring any changes to their computer’s settings or special client-side software—ensuring that everyone gets easy access to the network.

Self Provisioning - Once connected to the public access network, Nomadix’ home page redirection feature intercepts the user’s browser settings and directs them to a web site to securely sign up for service or log in if they have a pre-existing account.

The NSE offers the unique ability to provide a 5 step service branding experience for the provider and HotSpot owner. Nomadix offers redirection opportunities pre and post authentication as well as at service disconnect for maximum service branding capability for both the service provider and the venue owner.

Depending on the network architecture and vendor, the NSE can determine the physical location of the user to personalize the service presentation and perform security or billing functions.

Branding - Web page redirection at pre and post authentication as well as at service disconnect for maximum service branding capability for both the service provider and the venue owner.

Personalized - Depending on the network architecture and vendor, the NSE can determine the physical location of the user to personalize the service presentation and perform security or billing functions. The NSE can drive a HTML/Javascript window down to each customer’s Internet browser providing them with the ability to self-select services and upgrade their bandwidth and billing options in real-time.

Multi-mode Authentication and Access Control - In addition to supporting the secure Browser-based Universal Access Method via SSL, Nomadix simultaneously supports Port-based Authentication using IEEE 802.1x and authentication mechanisms used for smart clients by companies such as Boingo Wireless and iPass.

Walled Garden - The NSE also offers the ability to only allow access to a pre determined “Walled Garden” area of the web prior to authentication.

Biling Models - Supports a wide variety of billing models using credit cards, scratch cards or monthly subscriptions—then bill by a host of different parameters including time, volume, or bandwidth. Offers an integrated RADIUS client allowing the service operator to track or bill based upon the number of connections, location of the connection, bytes sent and received, connect time, etc.

Advanced Security - Patented internet Network Address Translation (iNAT™) functionality that creates an intelligent mapping of IP Addresses and their associated VPN tunnels allowing multiple tunnels to be established to the same VPN server creating a seamless connection for all the users at the public access location. Nomadix also allows tracking logs to support Lawful Intercept initiatives. The NSE also provides Session Rate Limiting (SLR) and MAC filtering capabilities to significantly reduce the risks of Denial of Service (DoS) attacks

Policy Based Traffic Shaping - The bandwidth management feature is part of the NSE core functionality and enables the providers to limit bandwidth usage on a per device (MAC Address/User) basis.

Management - The NSE provides a unique RADIUS-driven auto-configuration functionality that utilizes the existing infrastructure of a provider to deliver an effortless and rapid methodology to configure devices for fast network roll-out.
